Reception

Our topic last term was 'Animals'. Each week we focused on different types of animals or insects and learned interesting facts about them. In ICT we practised using simple programs to draw insects and labels their parts. We talked about pets and even had a visit from Daniel's rabbit which we were all very excited about. We practised asking questions to find out information about rabbits and what it takes to look after one. We pratised our doubles and if you ask you child, they may even rap a doubles song to you! We all started learning digraphs (where two letters make one sound e.g. 'sh') and were applying our sounds and tricky words to writing little books about animals. We had a trip to the farm and loved meeting lots of different animals and even had the opportunity to feed some of them. We also had science week where we met a crazy scientist who showed us an amazing experiment before we went and did our own experiments.

This term we are learning through the topic of transport. We started off learning about buses by reading the book Naughty Bus. We were lucky enough to have a visit from Abdulahai's dad who told us all about his job as a bus driver. We will be talking about different types of transport and which we would use to get to different places. Would you take a bus to China? We will be practising tallying in maths and comparing group sizes and making estimates. Later on in the term we will be visiting the Transport Museum.
