In Year 2 we always tell the children how amazing they're. At the Natural History Museum they was able to find out why by looking at the human body. In topic we have been looking at the senses and how it senses influence everything we do. The children were well behaved and had lots of fun.

Key Stage 1 Outdoor Learning Project

This week some of our children from years 1 and 2 started their outdoor learning project with Miss Gayle and Douglas from the Windmill Cluster. They had a lovely time exploring in the park and playing with magnifying glasses. Their next session will be on Thursday 18th October.

2PB meets a Brixton-born author

2PB were given the fantastic opportunity of taking part in an author workshop at Brixton Library. Laura Dockrill read from her story 'Angry Cookie'. Maria Kiripidou, the illustrator, then helped the children draw their own angry cookie. Some of the kids purchased the book at the end of the workshop. 2PB had a great time.

Mrs Eade's Leaving Assembly

With a heavy heart we bid adieu to Mrs Eade this morning. It has been an amazing journey with her leading our school and she will be missed terribly... as will Miss Darragh, Miss Groom, Miss Ferris, Miss Thompson, Miss Mircheva and Miss Cat. Jubilee Summer Fair

The whole school community enjoyed a lovely summer fair last Friday. There were stalls, games to play, tasty food to try and amazing live music to listen to. It was a great evening and it was fantastic to welcome so many families and friends old and new. Our thanks go to the parents' group who work so hard to put on the fair and to all the staff and parent helpers.

2018 Windmill Cluster Art Exhibition

Jubilee created art works around the theme of health and well-being -"Good to be me". Children were able to enjoy the process and some of the work was displayed along with other Windmill Cluster schools' creations at Animali Domestici (Italian designers, architects and artists studio) next to the Black Cultural archives.

Art Club 2018

Every Thursday, the children get to become wonderful budding artists. This day we took our art outside because of the lovely weather. For all your little Matisses, Van Goghs, and Picassos out there. This is a perfect after school class for your child to explore their creativity! See you in the new academic year.

ACTIVE TRAVEL 2018

On Thursday, the school councillors talked about what students might like to do next year in terms of active travel activities, discussed issues relating to the Travel Plan and discussed how we can travel to school to reduce air pollution and become more healthy.

Year 2 Beach Trip 2018

On Wednesday 4th July, Year 2 had a great time at Joss Bay. The kids enjoyed splashing in the water, playing games, eating ice-lollies and getting the chance to shop for gifts at the shop. It was such a lovely day!

Scooter Training

In June key stage one were extremely lucky to have received training on how to ride their scooters safely. Each class took part in a 35 minute slot where they were taught how to scoot using both legs, brake and squat down while moving. They also learnt how to safely scoot when traveling on roads, a skill I'm sure you will all agree is very important. Every child left the session with a huge grin on their faces! Don't forget we have bike racks to store scooters and bikes at School, so get scooting!

KS1 SG Sports Atletics

KS1 children had a successful competitive event at Kennington Park. The children in KS1 came away with silver. They were two points away. Well done to all the children who took part and were ambitious. Jubilee is very proud of you.

Sports Day 2018

This year the children, teachers and parents took part in a competitive sporting activity at St-Martin-in-the-Fields. It was a very fun and successful day. The children took part in the egg and spoon race, javelin, target throwing, sack race, hurdles, relays and finished of with the sprints. Some children were awarded medals if they were in the battle for the gold medal race. Congratulations to all the children who took part and gave it their all.

To help celebrate 'No child left inside' week, Year 5 visited the Saatchi Art Gallery on Monday 18th June 2018. Children observed and analysed different types of modern exhibitions from unknown and upcoming artists and create their very own collage inspired by a given theme.

Junior Choir @Lambeth Saturday Centre

Members of our Junior Choir performed at the Lambeth Music Saturday Centre on Saturday 12th May. They joined the Lambeth Children’s Choir in a concert for families and music staff. The children were small in number but gave a resounding performance featuring some of their favourite songs including ’What about Us’.

Year 5 trip to the imperial war musuem

On the 26/3/18, Jubilee’s Year 5 group went to the Imperial War Museum in Kennington. We have been reading ‘Goodnight Mister Tom’ in Literacy this term and we went to see what life was like in Britain during the Second World War. The children had a great time at the museum and were fascinated by the exhibits; particularly the ‘Family at War’ exhibition, which was an in depth look at the life of a real family that lived in South London during WW2. The children were really able to relate to what this family went through and were extremely excited to see and go inside the Anderson shelter, which they read about in Goodnight Mister Tom. Here are some photos of the children at the museum, trying on some WW2 uniforms.

Year 2 Bread Making

Year 2 were very lucky to have Anna from Caterlink visit to run a bread making workshop. She taught us about different food types, and then helped us kneed the dough. After that we were allowed to choose the design and shape of our bread. Once we had moulded it into shape, Anna baked it for us and we then took it home at the end of the day. They were delicious!

London Music Masters Philharmonic Family Concert

On Sunday 25th February 2018 some of our Year 2 children performed in the Clore Ballroom in the Southbank Centre. The children played their violins to a packed audience of families, friends and members of the public. Everyone was amazed at how confident the children were and how beautiful the music sounded. At Jubilee we love music. Preparing for, and taking part in, a performance is one of our favourite things!

Lambeth muisc festival -Junior choir

On the 20th March Jubilee’s infant choir and Year 6LL were lucky enough to perform in the Lambeth Music Festival’s infant and junior singing concerts. Both concerts featured 900 children singing together in front of a packed audience at the iconic Royal Festival Hall. It was a memorable event greatly enjoyed by all. Richard Atkin's science explosion

Jubilee attended a science fair at Richard Atkin's, there were many experiments there. Jubilee were testing rocket fuel with different accelerants. It turns out cold tea water was the best! Jubilee's experiment was judged to be the second best there. Well done for the second place our budding future scientists!!

6LL Into University Week

6LL visited Into University and had a wonderful week learning even more about the Ancient Maya. We researched important historical figures from the Ancient Maya and then created informative posters about their lives and influence. We also met a ‘Time Lord’ who took us on an adventure back in time; we learned all about the social hierarchy of the Maya through drama! We were lucky enough to be able to visit the Saatchi Gallery, where we created lots of different styles of art using a range of materials. On Friday, we visited King’s College London to have a tour of the university and experience university life. At the end of the day, we even got to take part in our very own graduation ceremony and wear traditional caps and gowns! Overall, we had a fantastic week and can’t wait to go back at the end of year 6 for our secondary transition workshops.

6ll Intouniversity 2018

Although 6LL had a shorter week at Intouniversity, due to the snow, they still had a fabulous time. They visited the Saachi Gallery and completed some Maya art work and had a fantastic visit to University College London where they graduated.

World Book Week @ Jubilee 2018

Last week at Jubilee we celebrated world book week. As well as all our usual activities (such as teacher swap and ‘drop everything and read’), we were lucky to have a week filled with visitors. Parent volunteers came to read their favourite stories to the children, and we also had 3 very special visitors. Three authors (Davina Hamilton, Ellie Levenson and Frann Preston-Gannon) came to share their work and do some wonderful workshops with the children from years 1-6. On world book day itself, we celebrated with our infamous costume parade and with a new event: ‘Book Exchange’ – everybody brought in one of their old books and was able to exchange it for a new book. Overall, we had a brilliant week and can’t wait to do it all over again next year! Have a look at our photos from the week.

Forensic science workshop day

Year 5 spent a wonderful afternoon attending a forensic science workshop, where they got to spend the afternoon finding out the science behind fingerprints, and all things forensic related.

6KS at Intouniversity

6KS d a fantastic week with into-university studying the ancient Maya. The had a wonderful visit on the Tuesday from an actual real life Maya villager, this followed by a fantastic Maya art workshop at the Saatchi Gallery. The week was finally topped off with a visit to UCL and their graduation in front of proud parents and carers, well done 6KS!

Mayor of Lambeth visits Jubilee

We were very excited to welcome Marcia Cameron who is the Mayor of Lambeth to Jubilee Primary. She came in full ceremonial dress and wearing the most amazing gold chains! Some of our school councillors showed her around the school and she was impressed by the children’s lovely manners and hard work. The school council then interviewed her about her role as the Mayor and were interested to discover that she had been part of a welcoming committee for Prince Harry and Megan. She then spoke to Years 4—6 in assembly and really inspired the children. She told them about how she had grown up on the Tulse Hill Estate, loved living in Brixton and how proud she was to be an ambassador for Lambeth. We hope to see her back at Jubilee again soon!

Year 2 trip to Kew Gardens

Year 2 visited Kew Gardens as part of their topic leaning on living and non living things and the rainforest. We visited the Palm House and the conservatory, but our favourite part was the Treetop walk. It was like we were walking round the emergent layer of the rainforest!

Tree Planting

Every year group got to get their hand dirty panting a tree in the school. Each year group got to select a tree, which will reduce our carbon foot print and provide food for birds and insects, then plant it with the help of our local green fingered parent Seonaid Royall.

Chuka Umunna Visit

Jubilee were very lucky to have a visit from our local MP for Stretham. He spoke to the children about what makes a great leader and met with our school council.

Diwali

To celebrate Diwali, the Hindu festival of light, year 2 have made Diya lamps out of clay. The lamps are lit to show the triumph of light over darkness, to symbolise that good will always be victorious over evil. Happy Diwali!

Olympic Athlete Luke Lennon-Ford Visits Jubilee

A big thank you to Luke Lennon-Ford, British Olympic 400 meters athlete, for coming to our school and inspiring our children to be resilient, ambitious and healthy. All the children and staff enjoyed the event and took part in a fitness circuit that included star jumps, leg drives, push-ups and spotty dogs.

KS1&2 Sports Day

On Thursday 29th June we held our annual Sports Day competition at Brockwell Park. Mr Barton worked with the team from SG sports to create lots of exciting sporting activities for the children to take part in and everyone had a brilliant day. It was lovely to see so many smiley faces and the children were a credit to the school, displaying excellent teamwork skills and sportsmanship.

The children have been learning to play in teams and gaining skills in using a bat and ball. We took these skills and used them at Brockwell Park in a whole school Rounders competition. The children enjoyed themselves and so did the teachers who asked for a competition of their own

Year 6 Athletic Competition

Year 6 took part in SG's athletics competition at Kennginton park, a wonderful afternoon was had by all, and i am very proud to say Jubilee were a very deserving runners up! the team performed excellently but, special mentions to Jaheim for winning the boys 100m and the boys overall champion, Yurica for winning the girls 200m and Hanif for winning the 400m.

Year 1 trip to Botanical Institute

Year 1 children went to the botanical Institute and observed flowering plants and got to plant their own Nigella seeds to take to school to look after. The children also used a microscope to look at the pollen of a flower and also got to use different fabrics to make a plant.

International Evening 2016

Year 6 had a rather intriguing afternoon trying out some new technology. Now Press Play whisked them away to an imaginary future, where global warming meant London flooded every few months. The children really enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to using it in our next topic.

Olympic Gymnast Steve Frew visits Jubilee

As part of our Olympic Sports week. We invited Steve Frew, who was Scotland's first ever Comonwealth Games gold medallist and has an international career that spans over 23 years. Steve led a sponsored fitness circuit with all pupils, and followed-up with a talk and question and answer session. The aim of the event was to inspire the pupils to take up sport generally, but just as importantly to encourage them to discover and then pursue their passion in life.

Year 6 boat trip to Hampton Court

Year 6 took a lovely boat ride to try and recreate a river journey from the book, Treason. The trip acted as a stimulus to encourage the children with their descriptive writing .

Sport Relief - Dodgeball tournament .

To raise money for Sport Relief the school held a teachers vs children dodge-ball tournament, fun was had by everyone, maybe more was had by the teachers than the children; in the process we raised lots of money for the charity. Check out the pictures to see for yourself!

Year 6 Corridor Mural
